Here you will receive information and recommendations regarding
what you can experience during your trip to the Palomino
Islands by catamaran.
We
will board our catamaran “Spondylus” and during
the trip we will sail slowly in front of the picturesque
district of ”La Punta” and we can appreciate
the Real Felipe fortress and the “Abtao” submarine
museum.
Following
this, we will head off to the north point of the “San
Lorenzo Island” where our guide will go on to explain
about the important relationship between pre-Columbian culture
and the sea as well as amazing stories about pirates.
Once
behind the island, we will focus on the marine fauna that
will surround us. We will observe a Humboldt penguin colony,
a graceful colony that is sadly, in danger of extinction.
Following
our tour, we will head off the “Palomino Islands”
which are populated by a 4000 sea lions colony which will
be the main attraction of our tour.
Along
with the journey we will visit a group of Guaneras or manure
islands called “Cavinzas”, this area is home
to a great variety of sea birds; some of them endemic.
Finally,
we will navigate near the “Fronton Islands”
where the ruins of the former Fronton jail are found, then
we will direct our route back to the peer for the culmination
of the tour.
We
will have a light snack before we return to the dock at
the La Punta Port.
