Tour Description

Day 1: Wednesday Santa Rosa Island Peru

Sail upriver. Information for new passengers and cabin assignments. Time permitting there will be an afternoon or evening shore excursion by small boat. After dinner the Head Guide will explain the next day’s activities. Time to relax and to know your fellow passengers.

Day 2: Thursday

Early morning bird watching trip followed by a jungle walk near the village of Chimbote. Our guides have a comprehensive knowledge of the birds of the area and will also explain to you the many uses of plants by the local people. Late morning visit the small missionary town of San Pablo. Optional visit to the Leper hospital run by French-Canadian nuns and see the handicrafts made by these people. After dinner take a night excursion on the Peruate River to look for caiman and night animals.

Day 3: Friday

Morning visit to a village of Yagua Indians to see their native dress, traditional dances and handicrafts. Even though they no longer wear these outfits made from jungle products, your visit helps keep these traditions alive. Opportunity to buy/trade for these items such as natural dye paintings, jewelry and woven bags and hammocks. Later, visit the studio/gallery of a well known Peruvian painter. Return to ship for lunch and siesta. Late afternoon shore excursion on the black-water Apayacu River to see the flora and fauna of the area and possibly, time and weather permitting, a piranha fishing excursion.

Day 4: Saturday Iquitos

Early morning arrival back in Iquitos in time for transfers * to airport or hotel. Iquitos is a very unique and interesting city to visit. Guided tours of the city to see and hear the history of this rubber boom town or visit the local zoo or butterfly farm are available.

*Transfers are not included in cruise price, but are available upon request.

M/V Arca: Your home for 4 days


"El Arca" is a boat made by iron helmet and the foundations are made by wood and iron, this ship represents what an "Amazonian Boat" is, since its design that was inspired by the rubber time in Iquitos. It was rebuilt in 1988 and reshape for a better comfort in 2001.

This ship has a capacity for 20 passengers who will comfortably travelling in cabins with conditioned air and own bath, these cabins were made by mahogany and cedar, have comfortable beds, windows with a beautiful view to the river.
There is a dining room with conditioned air where the passengers will be able to enjoy delicious dishes from our country; these dishes will be done by hands of a 15 years experience cook.

The ship has a bar with varied drinks and beers. You will able to taste beer and cocktails from Peru. In the third deck "El Arca" has a hall for hammocks where you will be able to rest and to enjoy the Amazonian breeze.

In the prow the boat has a viewing point where you will enjoy the Amazonian sunset. During the trip we count on a working team specialized in attention to tourist, who offer support to tourist every moment that You ask for it, we had bilingual guides (English /Spanish).
This guides have big knowledge about the Peruvian rainforest, they have 15 years of experience, they know the benefits and the dangers that represent to enter in the dense Amazonian forest.
